crafty

I was bored last week so I made my best friend this bracelet the pictures make it look odd, but she loved it bc she works at Desigual a store from Spain and it matches the style of the clothing there.

I just took a piece of scrap denim, sewed some beads in an abstract pattern, a piece of a cross necklace that broke a while back, and a button!

RAZOR BURN

Ok I know I am not the only one so I thought I would share what has been working for me this summer!

I have had an issue with Razor burn/ bumps in my bikini area since I started shaving. It makes no sense to me because I do not have thick body hair on my body! For the most part I barely grow hair on my arms, and I have never had use any hair removal technique on my face. This blog is going to be a little long because I have tried so many things, LOL!

I have googled many of times what I can do to help me!! I have looked at so many different sites and tried it all.

If you can afford it of course the best thing to do would be to get laser hair removal! But most of us can't shell out the cash for that sooo I am going to share what I have been doing over the years!

I prefer waxing, but being a college student sometimes I just don't like to shell out the money to do this once every couple of weeks. I used to do it myself, but it seems to always be a mess and it's a little difficult, and very easy to accidentally bruise yourself since the skin in your bikini area is so sensitive!

I have tried Sally Henson and Nair hair removal products, and the problem for me with these is that my skin is so sensitive that these tend to irritate me as much as razor burn! Although, my cousin said it works just great for her!

I asked my dermatologist what I should do about this PROBLEM...
He said to first prep my skin by making sure it is damp with warm water, then clean the area I am going to shave (this help also on your legs for razor burn) with cetaphil body wash.

I found this greatly helps!!

I also read online to prevent ingrown hairs your should first exfoliate an area before you shave!
I first exfoliate with St. Ives scrub since it is effective and inexpensive, then I wash my skin with the cetaphil skin cleanser.

My dermatologist also told me that I should always use a sharp razor (not the disposable razors) in order to get the best shave and avoid irritation and razor bumps. I personally like Venus the best. I use the Venus Divine Razors or the Venus Vibrance

Another tip that my dermatologist gave me was to make sure I store my razor in a coffee cup in a closet. If you leave your razor in the bathroom it will collect all of the bacteria in your shower, and the bacteria in the air from flushing your toilet. GROSS! By storing your razor in a coffee cup and letting the bladed end hang over the side it allows it to drip dry. He told me if I set my razor flat bacteria would accumulate in the moisture. Letting it "drip-dry" will help this process.

--Also you are supposed to (as most of us know already) shave with the direction that the hair grows.

--I also find it helps to moisturize the area I shave with Cetaphil lotion which is fragrance free! I have super sensitive skin due to allergies, and dry skin/ eczema... I don't have the eczema that you are used to seeing, but my skin is super dry and if I am not careful my razor will rip up my skin! So I slap on some Cetaphil after I shave and it really helps!

I use both of these lotions! I love them because they are not greasy and do not irritate my skin! My dermatologist recommended these for my dry-sensitive skin as well!

Another thing I make sure to do is change out my razor blades according to the usage directions for the razor. This way I am always using a sharp blade, and the longer you use it not only will it become dull, but it will probably be dirtier.

My best friend says she uses a separate razor for her bikini area and her legs & body... I have done this before and it helps too because the razor blade for your bikini area is not getting all of the usage on your legs...

I also try to take time and wax every once in a while because it helps thin out the hair temporarily (at least for me). When I wax I noticed my hair grows back thinner so when I shave I get less irritated. Eventually, it will go back to how it was before, but it really does help even if you only do it every once in a while! There are tons of waxes you can use at home, but I like the GiGi brand that you can buy at Sally's Beauty Supply because it's inexpensive and works well! One of my friends has a cosmetology license and uses this brand when I go to her!

I am sure by now we all know especially if you have skin that is easily irritated, that it is best to use some sort of shave gel! My mom always bought me Skintimate growing up, but my dermatologist told me to use Aveeno non-scented since the fragrance in Skintimate might irritate my skin.

Also when I was using Venus and Skintimate alone my legs always had a super close shave! I always got compliments on how silky my skin felt when people would brush by me! So even if you don't have sensitive skin, using a sharp razor with shave gel will help you get a super close shave!

-I have also used Bikinizone. I know it is supposed to help with irritation and razor bumps, but I don't really care for this product. It helps you not feel the irritation, but sometimes (at least for me) the bumps get worse! It probably helps more if you do not have super sensitive skin like I do!

I know this blog was LONG, but I thought I would share these things because I know first hand how irritating irritated skin can be!

GUESS JEANS

I went to GUESS with my mom the other day and I ended up buying some more of their "Daredevil" fit, skinny jeans/pants! I have been wearing GUESS jeans in particular for four years now, and anytime I go look anywhere else no one has jeans that even come close to Guess!

I like GUESS jeans in particular because they fit so well and fit many different body types without having to be super stretchy! I like the Daredevil fit because they hug in all the right places (even on people with completely different body types). I can't say they will fit everyone, but they fit my best friend who has no trouble finding jeans, and they also fit me and I always have trouble finding jeans!

- They have a low-rise fit, but they aren't so low that they don't stay on right. My best friend and I have completely different bodies. She has a SUPER small waist, she measures about 24 in her waist and 37 in her hips. While my rip cage is bigger than hers and I am a 27 and a 39 in my hips (even though I don't have hips, it's mainly my back side lol). Yet, these jeans fit both of us like a glove!

-We both don't mind to by more expensive jeans because when it comes to how your pants fit- it's WORTH it! They tend to not stretch out weird and they typically last so much longer! (Although, if I found some cheaper jeans that fit my odd body type, I wouldn't put my nose up in the air and not buy them!)

The blue jeans I got have a wash that I felt would be great for everyday use, and I got the black ones because I love black skinnies, but they aren't denim and I can also wear them to work! =)

-The pockets are also proportioned to the backside in a way that is flattering for many body types. The pockets aren't TOO big or TOO small! I feel sexy every time I put them on!  I actually have 5 pairs of Daredevil skinnies from GUESS now and I love all of them!

Estee Lauder

This weekend I took a surprise trip home to visit my parents and my mom and I decided last minute to go shopping on Sunday morning. I wanted to go to the outlet Dillard's that we have near my parents' house, and my mom needed to visit Estee Lauder for some makeup and to get the free gift with purchase!

My mom gave me some of the fun stuff she didn't want/ need out of her gift and her "step-up" gift. I was totally surprised by the fun colors they have this season! My Dad's mother has worn Estee Lauder since I can remember and my mother has used their make-up off and on and used their skin-care consistently for a while.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair

Estee Lauder Perfectionist

My mom REALLY LOVES these two products! I Actually use her free gift size bottles that she has gotten over the years on my eyes! I use the night repair serum under my eyes because of all the aging that has occurred during college, and the perfectionist on my upper eye lid because all the women in my family have very droopy eyelids and I and trying to slow the process on my eyes! I can feel it already working! It tightens up your face while still moisturizing! But these are definitely great products to inform your moms, aunts, and grandmothers about!

These are swatches from the products my mom gave me out of her free-gift and free-gift "step-up". The lipstick is Pure Color number 53 in Wildly Pink SHIMMER, the lip gloss is the Pure Color gloss in number 23 Star Pink SHIMMER, and the eye liner is the Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in 05 Graphite (Bottom-up)
Also pictured is the Scrumptious Bold Volume Lifting Mascara and Lash Primer Plus Full Treatment Formula duo. I haven't tried this particular mascara by Estee Lauder yet, but I plan on trying it tomorrow!

Also I took a quick pic of myself in the Wildly Pink lipstick at work! I love it! It's a fun color that reminds me of a strawberry or watermelon, and I absolutely love it for the summer! I have already gotten many compliments in my office today! It looks more red-toned in the pic, but it's just the lighting, the swatch is a better example of its true color!

--I also splurged a little and bought a pair of black skinnies and skinny blue jeans from Guess. Then at the Discounted Dillard's I bought a dress, a sweater, and ripped leggings for $18! My mom and I also visited Neiman's where she was looking for the YSL highlights, but ended up buying the concealer by Cle de Peau. After the cosmetic lady applied it to my mom it was life changing! I really wish I took pictures! It's quite pricey being that it is a couture line, but totally worth the buy!

I will post pics of my finds tomorrow!

Chinese Laundry

Hope everyone has had a good week so far! =)

I was in a Rush this weekend because my best friend wanted to go out, and I didn't pack very well because I had to do so at 5:30 am and rush! lol...

So we ran to Ross since there is one fairly close to my parents' house, and I bought three shirts, and this pair of Chinese Laundry Wedges.

I actually found them on the Chinese Laundry website and they are called "Smooth Talker". I was happy to know that they were still on their website for $69.95 and I believe I got them for about $25 =) It always makes me feel good to know I saved money. I bought the black ones and my best friend bought the nude ones.

I am also excited to tell you they were super comfortable! I wore them all day Sunday without any pain!
I haven't had a lot of time recently because I just took 6 hours of summer school and I worked AT LEAST 25 hours a week, but I will try to post some pics of all the cute stuff I have been finding lately! I have done a lot of shopping in my free time! But for now I am just working 40 hours a week w/ no homework so I will probably be posting more!

Have a great Hump Day!!

SHOE DAZZLE

So I have been a HUGE Kardashian fan for a while now. It's a weird thing because sometimes I think they are so annoying and idiotic, but I love how their stylist Monica Rose dresses them, and Idk it's an odd obsession.

So when Kim K came out promoting ShoeDazzle I immediately signed up just to see what it was, but I never bought a pair because I am nervous about the quality. I am on the shorter side and I am about 5'3", but I have really long feet for my body so it's always difficult to find shoes that fit nice and comfortable because I cannot afford to go up a 1/2-size because they will look huge for my body!

Has anyone bought from ShoeDazzle! I have read reviews online about their quality, but I was just curious to see if anyone had bought from there because the shoes look like they are ok, and if they are I deff wouldn't mind getting a pair a month for so cheap!
